What not to put into AI.
If information is private, personal, commercially sensitive or not yours to share, stop before entering it into an AI tool.
Do not paste or upload:
- Passwords, passcodes, security answers or API keys
- Bank details, card numbers or payment information
- Personal health, identity or safeguarding information
- Customer, employee or applicant records
- Confidential contracts, legal advice or board papers
- Unpublished financial, product or strategy information
- Someone else’s work, image or data unless you have permission
Use approved tools and made-up examples
Follow your organisation’s policy. Remove names and identifying details. When learning, use fictional information unless an authorised owner has approved something else.
Check before you trust or share
AI can sound confident and still be wrong. Verify important facts with a reliable source and ask a responsible person before using an answer that affects money, safety, employment, health, rights or customers.
If you share something by mistake
Stop, keep a note of what happened and tell the person responsible for data protection or security in your organisation. Do not hide it or try to solve a possible breach alone.
